If you haven’t received your ballot yet, look for it in the mail in the next couple of days. It’s a good idea to vote early so you don’t misplace your ballot or forget. The deadline for voting in the primary is 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 18.
You can find links to the campaign Web sites of all Republican candidates for local, state, and U.S. elections for which Josephine County residents can vote on this page. We hope to help all Jospehine County Republicans become educated and well-infomed voters, so you can vote for the candidates who best represent your principles and values.
There’s one race in Oregon that will actually be decided in the primary, because there are only two candidates running. That is the race for the Superintendent of Public Instruction. Our own Dr. Ron Maurer is running against the incumbent, Susan Castillo, for this important position. Public education in Oregon recently ranked 43rd in the nation. Are you satisfied with the quality of education our children are receiving? Over 51% of the state income taxes you pay go to fund public education. Do you feel you’re getting a good return on your investment? If not, vote for Dr. Ron Maurer. He has served us very well as the Oregon state Representative for District 3, and he will serve us well as Superintendent of Public Instruction. Remember, this race will be decided in the primary, so this is your only chance to vote on this race.

We have a good chance to take the Governor’s office as well, since Kulongoski isn’t running for re-election. Several Republicans have recently gotten elected in upset victories in long-time blue states, because so many Americans are fed up with fiscal and regulatory irresponsibility. We can do it here in Oregon, too! — Electing stong, principled Republicans in the primary is the key to our success in November.
Please remember to vote! Our future is in our hands.
