A Message from the Dorchester President

2010 was a very interesting political year across the country and in Oregon, and as we near another presidential election, 2011 promises to be just as interesting. I hope you will join us at Dorchester XLVII, as we analyze the past and look to the future and discuss what we do next to keep the momentum going.

Items of discussion and debate will include the issues before the 2011 Oregon State Legislature-which includes a first time in history 30-30 split in the Oregon House of Representatives; the changes that November’s elections brought to the United States Congress; and the overall political landscape in Oregon and the nation — including the subject of reapportionment on the state and national level.

The Dorchester Board is hard at working planning for the 2011 conference. While all the details and speakers are not finalized, one thing for sure is that there is no other event in Oregon where political junkies and grass-roots activists can mingle with elected officials and new candidates in a thought-provoking and entertaining (we use that word loosely) atmosphere.

A highlight of the 2011 conference is sure to be re-marks from Congressman Greg Walden, who will offer a behind the scenes view of his role in leading the recent transition of power in the United States House of Representatives. Dorchester delegates will also make news with one of the first 2012 presidential race straw polls.

March 4th is just around the corner, so head directly to to register online, or return your registration form by mail.

Look forward to seeing you in Seaside at the Dorchester Conference – Where Politics is Fun!
