Oregon Conservative Policy Summit

Rogue Valley Country Club – Monday August 29th, Tuesday August 30th

Jackson County Republican Party, Oregon Republican Party, FreedomWorks and other conservative and tea party grassroots groups and leaders from across Oregon are proud to announce the first Oregon Conservative Policy Summit. Public Policy resource coordination will be provided by the Transformation Project, Representative Dennis Richardson and Allen Alley Co-Chairmen.

This conference will focus on policy discussions to set a Conservative Legislative Agenda for the Oregon Legislative, Congressional and Statewide elections, and the 2012 and 2013 Sessions of the Oregon Legislative Assembly. This Summit precedes and sets a policy course for the Oregon Republican Party Platform Convention in Bend on September 9th and 10th, where a short Platform Statement of Principles will be adopted and an Oregon Republican Legislative Agenda ratified. Party leaders will hear what grassroots leaders have to say and will carry this policy direction forward.

These policies will help guide fundraising, campaigning, and legislating during the coming two-year legislative cycle. This process will generate the ideas Oregon conservatives will advocate during the coming elections. We are setting a Conservative Legislative Agenda for Oregon based on core principles and communicated through the Platform of the Oregon Republican Party. This Conference is where change for Oregon begins. We are generating the ideas that will attract support and elect conservatives to offices at all levels of Oregon government.

Policy Planks to be discussed:

  • Strategies for Economic Vitalization
  • Natural Resources Policy
  • Education Reform
  • State Government Fiscal Reform
  • Elections Law Reform
  • Technology and Business competitiveness

Our goal is for each policy plank to have Republican Legislators participate in the discussion and give participants a reality check and a policy resource professional to provide technical background. After the establishment of policy goals, the conversation is to focus on the realistic legislative goals which will be supported in the Oregon Republican Party Platform and will serve as campaign issues for the 2012 elections and the 2012 and 2013 Oregon Legislative Sessions.

We are building constituencies around policy ideas to support our legislators in future public policy processes in Salem and Washington, DC, post conference.

  1. When Greg Walden held his tea party townhall in Medford, it was my impression that there were two active tea party groups in JaxCo. One is Americans for Prosperity and the other is Freedomworks. Either can be found using Google.

Rogue River has a new group known as Wake Up America.

Grants Pass has Friends of Josephine County.

    Teapartiers all.

  2. There are lot of groups involved in the Tea Party Movement. Some of the main ones are Freedom Works, Tea Party Express, Tea Party Patriots, 9-12 groups, and many Republicans. You might try to contact the Jackson County Republican Party for some leads.
