On October 4, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be conducting a nationwide emergency alert test. During the test, the alert that goes to your cell phone will include a unique sound and vibration. This is to help the system be more accessible to people with disabilities. It also means that, even if your cell phone is set to silent, it will still make the sound and vibration if the cell phone is powered on when it gets the alert.
