Rising Antisemitism in Josephine County – A Return to the Days of the KKK

In Response to Russell McAlmond’s Letter to the Editor

Commitment to Unity and Truth in Josephine County

The Josephine County Republican Party strongly condemns hatred, including antisemitism, and any form of religious or cultural discrimination. Seeing divisive rhetoric surface in our community, especially when accusations are leveled without clear evidence or context, is disheartening.

Clarifying the Record

The recent article’s claims are false and damaging to the hardworking individuals in our party who strive to serve the community. Allegations against party leaders and members have been taken out of context, distorted, or outright fabricated to sow discord.

To address specific points:

Respect for All Faiths: The Josephine County Republican Party celebrates religious freedom and respects the diverse beliefs of all residents. Allegations that our party targets Jewish individuals or any religious group are untrue and antithetical to our principles.

Community Engagement: Members of the Josephine County Republican Party regularly work with individuals of various faiths and backgrounds to address shared concerns, foster understanding, and build a stronger community. We reject the claim that anyone has been singled out or attacked based on their religion.

Regarding the Rabbi: Any personal disputes involving individual members should not be conflated with the values or actions of the entire party. If misunderstandings have occurred, we encourage open dialogue and reconciliation, not public smear campaigns.

Condemning Division

It is deeply concerning that the article attempts to draw comparisons between modern-day community leaders and the hateful actions of the KKK from decades ago. Such comparisons are inflammatory and detract from our community’s progress to overcome past prejudices.

Reaffirming Our Commitment

The Josephine County Republican Party will continue to work towards inclusivity and mutual respect. We welcome dialogue with all community members, including those who feel unheard or marginalized, to ensure Josephine County remains a place where everyone can thrive.

Suppose Russell McAlmond, who wrote this article, truly wants to combat antisemitism and foster understanding. In that case, we encourage him to engage in constructive conversations rather than spreading baseless and hateful accusations that further divide our community.

We can ensure that Josephine County remains a beacon of collaboration and mutual respect.
