OREGONIANS HAVE HAD ENOUGH WITH TAXES

I received a postcard from the Taxpayers Association of Oregon, and its message was eye-opening. It revealed that in 2023, approximately 131,000 people left Oregon, seeking refuge in states that have cut taxes over the past four years. However, here’s the catch: as these individuals fled, over 125,000 people moved into Oregon, many attracted by our state’s generous benefits. This raises an important question—how is this trend impacting Josephine County? It’s something we all need to consider.

The Taxpayers Association of Oregon reported the results of the November 2024 General Election tax measures. Of the local tax proposals, 19 passed, resulting in $560 million in higher taxes, while 22 failed to gain voter approval. This marks one of the highest rejection rates for local tax measures in the past decade, reflecting a growing sentiment among Oregonians that they are being overtaxed.
