Great News!  SB210 is having a public hearing this coming Monday.  The description is below but in summary it is to end mail-in voting and require IDs. It’s downright miraculous that this got onto the agenda at all.

Could you please share with everyone to please submit testimony in support of this bill through the OLIS system at the bill link below.  In person and remote testimony does require that they pre-register if they’d like to do that.  The legislature needs to see how important this topic is to our base, and our base won’t know unless we can get the word out…..quickly.

SB210

  • Makes in-person voting on the date of an election the standard method for conducting an election. Allows for absentee in some situations.
  • Requires electors to present valid government-issued identification when appearing in-person to vote or when requesting a ballot be sent by mail.
  • Requires all ballots to be returned by the date of an election.
  • Removes a requirement that the state pay postage for ballots returned by mail.
  • Refers the Act to the people for their approval or rejection at the next general election.

Current mail-in voting through the post office cannot properly adhere to Chain-of-Custody requirements that should be with any ballot for any election.  The diminished lack of trust in our elections has been the biggest act of Voter Suppression in our time.  Combined with the recent Presidential Executive Order, this bill will be necessary to bring Oregon into compliance with Federal actions.

Thank you so much,
